Interactions: Ioren and Grand King Valturez
Interactions between Ioren and Grand King Valturez of hell. When Valturez mentions Guardian’s he is speaking of Guardian Calantrial Extraxi, these are creatures that Valturez has his elite guards specially breeding so that they can patrol the town to prevent the abuse of the less fortunate.
These interactions are from a wonderful Roleplay between myself and Necro <3 She’s such a wonderful person and this is helping me to develop not only the Aviur Demons but also how Valturez is before the 2nd war.
Ioren belongs to NecrosisDemon while Valturez and the Aviur Demon race are my own creations.
‘Outta my way, outta my way!’ Hooves almost slipped over the smooth cobblestone of the street, the tattered brown cloak he had wrapped around his body billowing behind him as he ran while trying to avoid the other citizens of the slums. Seriously, this was ridiculous. There was three guards behind him. Three! And all he had done was steal a loaf of bread! Didn’t these guys have anything better to do? Like… like catching the real criminals?
Breathing harshly Ioren rounded a corner and ran into an alley, leading him from the slums that were his home to the common district of the city. He hadn’t survived this long by being bad at running but he had his limit too; out in the market it’d be easier to loose the guards in the busy crowd.
If only people would get out of his way!
If only he had bothered to remember that today was one of the today’s the city received it’s weekly special and royal visitor. Meaning that the market was crowd. Which normally wouldn’t problem, but right now he was in a major hurry. Nearly everyone had gathered to watch the High King make his visit, and Ioren was running too fast to stop in time when he realized he wouldn’t be able to avoid the crowd; he crashed right into the wall of people, knocking several of them off their feet.
He tried to keep his balance, flailing around on one hoof and the load of bread he had stolen slipped from his fingers before the first of the guard jumped into him and forced him to the ground. “Got you now, filthy thief. No one steals on my watch!”
Well it was certainly an unexpected distraction. Most who had been bowled over by the fleeing theif were getting back to their feet. Sneering towards the demon who was being pinned and forced to the ground a few so kindly chipping in with the guards to keep him pinned while words were being spoken.
“Disgraceful creature coming out in the presence of the king…”
“Filth from the slums…”
Amongst other things really. Though there was a heavy snort to come from the heavily robed figure that the gathering had been standing in front of, blocking his view though that was quickly taken care of. Swinging out those four arms the large group was quickly forced out of the way and to the sides of the man glanced towards the Guards who were currently tending to Ioren. A glare slowly etched over Valturez’s features as he moved forward and knelt down to take up the bread loaf that had rolled out on the cobblestone path, bringing it up and looking over it before his attention turned to Ioren then a harsh glare came to the guards “You’ve some nerve doing this in my presence… you are dismissed.” He let out in a low hiss as he stood up, watching the guards carefully before he glanced back to his own escort motioning for one to step forward to stand by his side. One of those ears flicked for a moment as he heard the crowd starting to whisper.
“As I have said time and time again those who live in the Slums are just as much a citizen of this city as you are! You know well my laws, everyone is welcome in this city and if I find out that those who live a poorer life are being treated with disrespect I will sentence them to a life in the Dungeons with Ashendale.” Well, that certainly got most of those gathered around to shut up… no one wanted to face Ashendale.
“Get… off!” He knew it was useless. Him versus three guards pinning him against the ground, and now the people he had knocked over were pitching in as well, pressing his face against the stone.
Of course he was used to the insults. That didn’t make it any more fun to have to listen to them though. So yes he was a defect. So what? He still had one horn he could stab out eyes with!
A shadow fell over him and Ioren blinked, opened his eyes and looked up, staring at the large robed figure in front of him. The citizen holding him down quickly scattered but the guards still held a firm grip on him. Oh great… just fucking great… now he had the attention of the king, the king who claimed to give a damn about what happened in the slums but always ended up doing shit about it.
He gritted his teeth and stopped his struggle, knowing it would do him no good now that all the attention was on him, and narrowed his eyes at Valturez as he picked up the stolen loaf of bread and turned it over in his hands.
Ioren’s lips pulled back in a snarl and his eyes narrowed. That was his dammit! He had stolen it fair and square, despite what others thought!
The guards quickly pulled back at Val’s order; though they were reluctant to do so they weren’t so stupid as to refuse a direct order of their King. Glaring at them Ioren slowly got back onto his feet and smoothed out the overlarge cloak he wore, making sure the fabric covered his hooves – they could all see his single horn, they didn’t need to know that wasn’t the only ‘defect’ he had.
Looking up to meet Valturez’s eyes he raised his eyebrows, waiting. He wasn’t sure what was going on, why the King had bothered… could’ve just let the guards haul him away… and he still held his dinner. He wanted it back!
“Smart men…” The grand king muttered out as he watched Ioren getting to his feet… rather thankful that there wasn’t any whispering and that silence was the only thing around them now. Taking a couple strides forward the four armed demon held out the hand that had the bread in it offering for Ioren to take it back “Of course stale bread isn’t a proper meal… and it certainly can’t be that filling for ones stomach.” Valturez offered a smile, a genuine and sincere smile… there was no hatred, nothing that showed disgust. No, those looks were only coming from the gathered citizens and guards around… the King himself held no form of hatred towards any of his people.
Slipping back Valturez dipped his head down in a slight bow closing his eyes for a moment as he casted out a heavy sigh “My apologies for how my men have treated you… it seems that no matter how much I make my laws clear there are still those who go against my order.” He muttered out before lifting his head and snarling towards the guards “It makes me think that those who don’t listen to my words would rather have the former king back… Adramelech was a better ruler some say…”
Shaking his head one of those hands slipped down to seat itself on his side “But let’s avoid bringing up the past.” His attention turned to look Ioren over, the best he could at any rate the oversized cloak was doing well to hide away everything “What is your name?”
Ioren’s eyes drifted down to the offered bread, flicked back up to the King’s face and snatched it right out of his hand and shoved it under the folds of his cloak. Stale was good enough for him. And it did fill.
He noted the smile… it looked sincere enough, but the guy was King of crying out loud. That meant he was probably pretty good at acting. That smile had to be as fake as the rest.
“Obviously.” he muttered. “Maybe you should do more than just make your laws ‘clear’ cause it’s obviously not working, is it?”
The whispered immediately flared up again. To be honest, he was quite surprised at his own boldness considering who he was talking to.
Adramelech hadn’t exactly been a better ruler, but in the slums it didn’t matter who was King, the situation had never changed down there.
He took one step back, turning away from Valturez just slightly, and stared at his face from under his hair, trying to decipher what he was really after. The question about his name was innocent enough… but why? Why would he care? Why was the King still bothering? It didn’t make any sense!
Ioren snorted and looked around, meeting the glares of the guards and the citizens watching with one of his own, before he looked at Valturez again. “It’s Lirrz.” No way he was giving up his real name… it’d be too easy to track him down later if they knew his real name, and he was content to live for a few years longer.
A snarl formed over Valturez’s features as those whispers started to flare up again… when one of the offendered didn’t stop the kings attention turned towards the demon before he waved his hand hearing a rather sharp cry from the other male as he collapsed down clutching at his chest and heaving breaths “Another word from anyone and I will make a lovely display of your loud mouthed friend…” He let out, keeping his focus on the gasping demon as those around took several steps back “I am not the push over you see me as and I do not tolerate my people being abused for what they are.”
His attention returned to the so called theif as he tilted his head before he slowly draw that hand down to his side allowing for whatever hold he had on the demon to be relinquished. A low chuckle came out of him at the rather bold statement that came from the other demon as he shook his head sighing out “Again, my apologies that such things are still happening. The Palace is working on tightening our hold with guards however there is now a program that we are trying. Selectively breeding Guardian’s that will patrol the city and keep my laws in check. If a Guardian comes across someone from the Slums being treated poorly then it will bring the offenders to the palace as well as the victim.”
There was a pause as Valturez looked around, silence… that was good… “The victims will be given a room to stay in while they recover… three meals a day as well as medical attention from the Council.” There was a nod to follow before he looked to ‘Lirrz’ “Would that be something that you would like Lirrz? Or is it still not satisfactory enough for you? I would certainly like to hear suggestions as to what I could do better so that I could provide more for you and the people of the Slums.”
Ioren gasped and his eyes widened when the demon who couldn’t keep his mouth shut suddenly collapsed, choking and clawing at his own chest. He quickly took a step back. Geeeez… Valturez had barely blinked! What kind of freak power was that, if he could make a guy choke with just a wave of his hand?
His tail flicked nervously behind him as he looked at the King again, not sure what to think now. It wasn’t like he didn’t have respect for the guy… he had some… Ioren knew he had powers he couldn’t even fathom but he had never bothered to think about it before. Of course no one in their right mind would ever expect to just run into the guy like this… and this was surely not even putting a strain on Valturez’s abilities. Ioren swallowed thickly, slowly realizing that he was dealing with more than just a figure with royal blood in him.
Still, he could not keep himself from speaking the truth. “I don’t care what you can do for the others in the slums.” he began slowly, going over the words in his head before speaking them out loud. “It’s a dog eat dog world in there, the weak die and the strong survive. You’d know this if you had done your research so I’m not going to give you ideas on how you can make things ‘better’. It’s not going to work anyway. You can’t change by just pushing out a few new laws.”
Guardians might work, but that still remained to be seen. As it was, Ioren didn’t have much faith in it.
“What’s the catch? If I agree to come with you?” Not that he didn’t like the idea of a bed and three meals a day! But there had to be a catch… maybe he was just being paranoid, but he wasn’t injured and he had food which could last him a day… then again, if he agreed to come and it ended up being a trap anyway, at least he would be able to enjoy a real bed for once before he died, right?
“I’ll have you know this Lirrz… my Wife… your queen was once a member of the Slums as well. Ever since I brought her back to the palace I have been trying everything within my power to stop the abuse that you and so many others have suffered. It is why I am going through such great lengths to ensure your own safety. Yes, I know that the issues still happen but I at least want you to realize that I am trying.” A low sigh came out of him as he frowned “Guardians, will increase the protection rate… they will provide a safe haven for people such as yourself to run to. While they might be considered mindless beasts to some, they are loyal and obey the orders of those that they are loyal to.”
There was a pause before Valturez brought his hand up to rub at his temple “You will see what I am talking about however if you desire to join me for the trip back… of course that is entirely up to you.” Another pause came when he heard the question and that earned a head tilt and a confused look from the king “Catch? Must there be a catch for my wanting to help a citizen in need? To help care for you and to give you a better life?” He questioned softly frowning more “The palace is a place of safe haven, I can ensure your safety and well being there, and you will be treated no differently than the rest who dwell within my castle walls. Whether you agree or not that is entirely up to you but know there is no tricks to be had.”
